THE WHALE WALK

Whale watch in Albany between July & October

A leisurely walk in nature.

Watch whales from the Whale Walk (Boardwalk from Middleton Beach).

The path is a sealed or boarded walkway leading from Middleton Beach, around Mount Clarence along the coast. The walk overlooks King George Sound & passes the Ataturk Channel commemorating our ANZAC links, then on to Princess Royal Harbour. Other features: historic lighthouse cottage ruin, a bronze bust of Baudin, the French explorer, gun emplacements & spectacular views all the way.

Willdlife you may see are bandicoots, skinks and many birds including the Emu Wren.

From June to October you may see whales at close range in the channel or sound. Seals may also be spottted along the rocks and many large seabirds.

The path is suitable for a gentle stroll or a more vigorous stride. Cycling also possible. The path has wheelchair access. This track finishes at the easterly end of the Port precinct.

Take a brief 10 minute stroll to the first look-out or enjoy a full hour return walk to see more attractions.
