There are lots of activities for children in Albany WA, all the family can enjoy visiting a petting farm, fishing or a visit to the Wind Farm with its giant turbines. You are invited to visit the H0/00 scale, N scale and 'U' drive model railways. Also take a look at the Railwayana Museum. Find us at the eastern end of the old Railway Station, Proudlove Parade. The windmills at the wind farm are astonishingly high and worth the 20 minute drive to view. In and around the wind farm is a stunning coastal walk overlooking the Southern ocean. Take Frenchmans Bay Rd out of town, then turn right into Princess Avenue, then left in to Sandpatch Rd.

The Albany area offers beach fishing, jetty fishing and fishing charters. There is also great river fishing from the Nanarup and the King and Kalgan rivers. Try fishing at Emu Point Fishing Harbour, off the jetty, The town jetty, Nanarup or from the many sandy beaches around King George Sound.
Discover some great waves on the South Coast. For uncrowded surf be prepared for some four wheel driving to protected beaches from the prevailing easterlies in summer. There are several learn to surf schools in the area and some awesome places for sups and windsurfers when it turns onshore.
At 1000km, the Munda Biddi Cycle Trail in Western Australia is the longest, continuous, purpose built, Mountain Bike trail in the world. The trail begins in Mundaring (near Perth WA) and ends in Albany on the southcoast. The track winds through forest, away from populated areas, with regularly spaced campsites available to cyclists.

Albany's sailing conditions can best be spilt into three time zones. Early summer (September to mid December) is a period of change. Gradient easterlies prevail, interspersed with frontal passages that decrease in strength as the continental highs move southward. Summer (mid December to early February) is a period of steady easterlies, 8-12 knots before lunch shifting south-east at 12-25 knots in the early afternoon .... see more at the link following.
